The Northwest Justice Forum began in 2004 with a by-invitation only event to gather people committed to restorative justice in order to encourage and support each other in efforts to implement restorative justice practices in the Pacific Northwest. Denny Maloney, the Director of Deschutes County Juvenile Court at the time, contacted Eric Gilman at Clark County Juvenile Court with an interest in starting a restorative justice focused conference, and the seed was planted. Planning members from Deschutes County, Clark County, and Clackamas County Juvenile Courts, along with Resolutions Northwest and interested community partners came together to start what is now an annual tradition, open to all with an interest in this philosophy and practice.
