Making the Most of Fiscal Sponsorship: FAQ

By now, you’ve probably seen something – an email, blog or a social post – about our course specifically for Model A fiscally sponsored project leaders, “Making the Most of Fiscal Sponsorship.”

This is the first time we’ve ever collected our decade-plus of work with fiscally sponsored projects and put it all into a single program. Normally, it would cost thousands of dollars to hire us and get access to the detailed information in this course.

Even though this is the most cost-effective way to get access to our knowledge, it’s still an investment – $495 – and so I want to make sure any questions you have get answered. With that in mind, here are some questions (and answers) we’ve received recently from other project leaders:

Q: Who is this course for? What will it teach me and my team?
A: Model A Fiscally Sponsored Project Leaders, Staff, and Stakeholders who want to better understand 1) how to make the most of their project’s time under fiscal sponsorship, 2) whether or not they should consider going out on their own at some point, and 3) if applicable, the steps they could take to prepare their project for that transition whenever it may take place.

Q: What does this cost?
A: The price is $495 for 12 months of highly-relevant information that you won’t find anywhere else.

Q: What’s included in the course?
A: Every month, you’ll receive an email with the full text of that month’s lesson, along with links to a video recap, that month’s workbook and, usually, some additional resources. There are currently 12 lessons. By purchasing now, you’ll have lifetime access to all future updates to the course materials.

Our lesson plan at launch includes:

  • Module 1: Strengthening Your Operations Under Fiscal Sponsorship (5 lessons) with a focus on project-sponsor communication, fundraising, advisory committees, HR and more.
  • Module 2: Assessing If and When Separation Is Right (4 lessons) with lessons on the rationales for spinning out and staying sponsored, the costs of independence, signs your project may be ready to exit and more.
  • Module 3 Preparing for a Potential Spinout (3 lessons) covering transition planning/budgeting, legal requirements, the phases of spinning out and more.
